The #1 Highest bungee jump in the world is...

Royal Gorge Bridge, Colorado, USA – 1,053 feet (321 m)

This is the world's highest commercial bungee jump (from a fixed platform) ever set up.

Although it is only temporary, there are a number of amatuer jumpers who have had the chance to experience it.

An excerpt fro the press release
"AJ Hackett Bungy jump, in conjunction with Go Fast Sports, will be jumping from the Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City, Colorado from October 7-10, 2005. It will be a once in a lifetime experience as you bungee jump from 1053 feet over the roaring Arkansas River!"

A bungee jump like this offers the jumper over 10 seconds of freefall, and the chance to hit terminal velocity before the cord begins to stretch.

Look closely, there is a small red dot on the right side of the river. This is the liferaft.

Imagine looking down at that before you jump!
